| GrapeScot? It's not a new grape varietal, specifically developed for the chilly slopes of Ben Lomond. Nor is it a blend of Chardonnay and Famous Grouse. Interesting thought!
GrapeScot is a Wine and Single Malt Whisky appreciation company, offering private, restaurant and corporate consulting, tastings and events. Looking for a different kind of party or corporate event? Let the Scot part of GrapeScot lead your guests through a unique Single Malt Scotch tasting. Delight in a range of premium whiskies, while being entertained with Scottish anecdotes, and educated about Scotches. Learn a little or a lot about the origins of Scotch, different types, Scotch regions and the factors influencing the myriad of wonderful characteristics. Hear about the whisky-making process and the roles of the distillery craftsmen - the maltster and the mashman, the stillman and the maltmaster. Understand the hieroglyphics of the bottle labels, the importance of wood, the curiosities of the still shapes and the relevance of peat and water. Or - just enjoy a terrific selection of Scotches, custom selected for your event, with a wee primer on the best way to sniff, taste and appreciate Uisge Beatha - the water of life.
Carol Anderson is at the helm of GrapeScot. A sommelier, Scotch sipper for over 50 years (do ask!), writer, presenter, event organizer, avid traveller, singer and erstwhile songwriter, Carol's presentations and Scotch tastings are unique, light-hearted, entertaining and informative. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, she has lived in Ottawa since 1980 - just over half her life. She likes to hop back over the pond as often as is reasonable to visit family, climb the odd Munro (OK, three so far, to be precise), and to taste more Scotch. An entertaining presenter, Carol's professionalism, enthusiasm and knowledge of Scotch and Scotland will guarantee that your event will be a huge success. Whether it's a tasting party at home for 20 friends, a client event, or a conference tasting for 200, GrapeScot can plan and organize all the details, or simply fit in with your overall plans. The Grape part of GrapeScot is a sommelier, presenter and occasional wine writer. Carol travels frequently to wine regions of the world and attempts to taste hundreds of wines every month to keep abreast of vintages, producers, varietals, blends, regions, styles and all the other wonderful variables that contribute to a delightful range of offerings. GrapeScot wine tastings are thoroughly researched and presented to suit your occasion, budget and style. Whether it's a tasting at home with friends or to celebrate a special occasion, or a virtual Bordeaux tour with Corporate clients, GrapeScot will deliver a custom event with excellence. Don't get the wrong impression! Wine tasting is fun! But there's a lot of knowledge, research and experience needed to ensure that your event is first class, entertaining and a huge success. We want your guests to say "Cheers" on the first clink of their glass, and "Fabulous event" on the last. Some of that experience comes from over 25 years in hi-tech management, marketing and consulting which, in addition to the technical and business side of things, included planning and organizing client events, golf tournaments, out of country trips and gala evenings. You can read some of Carol's travel and wine articles in our News section. She has written for a multifarious selection of newspapers and magazines, including the Ottawa Citizen, Edmonton Journal, Outpost Magazine, More Magazine, Ottawa Due West and Ottawa Due East.
